Bell Sri Lanka Scholarship

The Bell Sri Lanka Scholarship was created to give a Sri Lankan teacher or educational manager a once in a lifetime opportunity to attend a two week, all expenses paid English language programme at Bell Bedgebury Language Centre in the UK. For more information about Bell Bedgebury Language Centre click here.

The scholarship is funded by the Bell Educational Trust, which helps over 100,000 students, from more than 120 countries through one of its 41 worldwide teaching centres and e-channels, primarily to learn English and other languages. The scholarship was created to commemorate the third anniversary of the tsunami which devastated the lives of hundreds of thousands of people in Southern Asia. It also builds on Bell’s previous charitable work in Sri Lanka, where money raised by friends of Bell from around the world went towards the building of two pre-schools in the tsunami-hit areas of Koholankala and Mahawelikada-ara.

Promoting the scholarship locally is Gateway, a Sri Lanka organisation which produces educational programmes that meet international standards.
