AVO-3 School of English

Located in central Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, AVO-3 School of English has offered English language teaching based on audio-visual teaching methods since 1990. A member of Optima, the Bulgarian National Association for Quality Language Services, AVO-3 became a Bell Associate in 2000.

The school offers a wide range of courses for adults and young learners: General English at all levels from beginner to advanced, Cambridge Exams preparation (FCE, CAE, CPE), English for Communication, Business English, including in-company tailor made modules.

Classes are limited to a maximum of 12 students. In most cases native speakers work in tandem with Bulgarian teachers, sharing the lessons equally.

The school is an approved CELTA and DELTA centre. AVO-3 also runs CELTA courses for aspiring teachers of EFL.

If you are a career-minded, enthusiastic, sociable, dedicated, lively British native speaker AVO-3 School of English offers a number of full-time teaching positions in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Length of contract: 12 months, including 6 weeks paid holiday. Contracts are renewable. Part time contracts may be available by negotiation.

Holidays: 6 weeks paid holiday per year, approximately distributed in the following way: 2 weeks at Christmas, a week at the beginning of April and 3 weeks in summer  between mid - June and mid September) plus national public holidays

Assistance with finding accommodation, visa and work permit documents

Visa and work permit costs reimbursed upon successful contract completion

Qualification required:

• first degree (BA) + an EFL qualification (Cambridge/RSA CELTA or equivalent)

Experience:

• minimum 3 months EFL teaching experience. Any other relevant teaching experience is an advantage.

Responsibilities:

• Teaching an average of 25 lessons (50 minutes each) per week (Total/year: 1000 hours) General English for different age groups and levels, including exam preparation classes (FCE), in-company courses
• Attending teachers' meeting
• Participating in internal teacher training seminars
• Active and creative contribution to the professional events organised by the school

Remuneration:

• net monthly salary 450 Euro, which could increase up to 500 Euro subject to performance

This is a much better salary than the local average and allows a comfortable standard of living in Bulgaria.

Qualification required:

Experience:

• minimum 2 years EFL teaching experience + some specialised teaching experience (Business English, Exam Preparation)

Responsibilities:

• Teaching an average of 25 lessons (50 minutes each) per week (Total/year: 1000 hours) General English for different age groups and levels, including exam preparation classes (FCE/CPE) + in-company teaching
• Attending teachers' meeting
• Contributing to and participating in internal teacher training seminars
• Active and creative contribution to the professional events organised by the school

Remuneration:

• net monthly salary 500 Euro, which could increase up to 550 Euro subject to performance

• Opportunity to apply for a scholarship to complete a DELTA course run by the school (after one year service)

Minimal qualification required:

• a first degree (BA) + Cambridge DELTA or equivalent

Experience:

• at least 5 years EFL teaching experience + 1 year teacher training.

Responsibilities:

• Approximately 100 normal hours per month, consisting of 60 hours of teaching plus 40 hours of other types of educational work
• Teaching General English for different age groups and levels, including exam preparation classes (FCE/CPE) + in-company teaching
• Teaching as a course tutor on CELTA courses
• Working as a mentor
• Designing and running internal teacher training seminars
• Designing and contributing to other professional events organised by the school
• Giving a presentation at the national IATEFL conference

Remuneration:

• 700 Euro net salary per month which may increase up to 800 Euro subject to performance. The above salary is much higher than the local average and allows a very comfortable standard of living in Bulgaria.
