Bahraini workforce to benefit from English language training

Bell’s newest centre, Bell Bahrain, has been approved as a training centre to deliver English language training to Bahraini employees as part of the Bahraini Government’s Career Progression Programme (CPP).

The Bell Bahrain training centre, which is owned and managed by The Expert Group, one of the Bell Educational Trust’s partners in the Gulf, is located in the new business district of the capital – Manama. It opened its doors this week to 70 students, all of which are benefiting from the Career Progression Programme (CPP). The programme is designed to improve the skills of the Bahraini workforce who are in lower income jobs such as retail, manufacturing and transport.

Sami Adnan Sulaiman, Bell Bahrain’s Centre Manager talks about the school’s involvement in the project: “We are one of only four providers of English language training for Tamkeen's CPP Project. We offer classes throughout the day enabling students to structure their learning around their jobs. The Career Progression Programme is a long term programme and in that time we aim to develop the English language skills of a number of students. One of the students who started this week is Asma Ali, who works as a Family and Health Care Co-ordinator for a large international company. She uses English every day in her work and wants to improve her speaking and writing skills."

Mike Foster, Commercial Director of the Bell Educational Trust commented: “We are delighted to be involved in this project which will make a difference to the lives of many Bahrainis. Improving their English language skills will give them greater career opportunities in a competitive market place. Our partnership with the Expert Group means that students will have access to the latest and most appropriate English language teaching materials and qualified teachers, many with experience of working at other high-quality international Bell centres. ”

On completion of the CPP training programme, students will be entitled to a salary increase of a minimum of BD50.

Bell Bahrain also offers General English open enrolment programmes.
