Students to enjoy new study and social facilities at Bell

28 February 2011

Bell Educational Trust is making a major investment in its flagship centre, Bell International College Cambridge, UK. In 2011 further developments are planned which will maximise existing space and further improve the learning experience of the thousands of students who study at Bell Cambridge each year.

Students are already benefitting from improved classrooms (Bell has an on-going programme of investment in technology including interactive whiteboards) and new dining facilities. Further plans include a redesigned learning centre with a roof terrace, and a flexible social and dining space which can be used for lectures, film nights, parties, meals and conversation. When the new entrance area is complete a true courtyard will emerge. The addition of a lift will also improve accessibility for wheelchair users.

Work started in 2010 and will continue until the Spring 2011. During the project, classes will continue as normal and students will have continued access to the sitting room, sports pavilion, football pitch, tennis and basketball courts. Bell's wide range of learning resources will be available as usual, along with dedicated support from learning centre staff.

Will Kinsman, Director of Sales and Marketing, says: 'Bell Cambridge is one of the oldest and most prestigious schools in Cambridge and students here have long enjoyed excellent teaching, facilities, accommodation, pastoral care and our valued social programmes. Our aim is to change lives by providing exceptional study and cultural experiences – and to do this we continue to invest in our facilities. One particularly exciting aspect of our current project is the flexible social space, which will give students even more opportunities to learn and communicate in a relaxed setting.'

Bell International College Cambridge was founded in 1955 by Cambridge graduate Frank Bell. It is known not only for its academic excellence but also for its world-class facilities and the redevelopment project team is working closely with the architects to ensure the development is sensitive to the existing landscape.
