Student numbers set to boom as Bell gears up for a record year in 2012

04 November 2011

The world-famous Bell language school based in Cambridge is anticipating a record-breaking year for business in 2012. Across its UK centres, student weeks are expected to grow to a record 30,500, a 9% increase on 2011 and the largest number in the organisation's 55 year history.

Despite global economic challenges, demand for Bell's internationally-renowned range of English language courses continues to grow. Tony Anderson, Director of Sales and Marketing, explains: "Since 2009, we have seen an impressive 22% increase in students coming to study at Bell from 120 countries worldwide. Growth has been particularly strong from emerging markets such as Brazil, Russia and China where the Cambridge "brand" really resonates. We are expecting 2012 to be a record year for Bell with more students than any year in our history."

With rising numbers of students opting to study in Cambridge, renowned for its academic excellence worldwide, so is the demand increasing for families to host international students within Cambridge.

"We work closely with over 300 families in Cambridge who choose to host international students," explains Tony Anderson. "Initially, many people find the extra income a motivating factor; however, in most cases, the enjoyment of meeting new people from around the world and learning about different cultures far outweighs the financial gain."

With Bell attracting an ever increasing number of students to Cambridge, helping to boost the local economy, Tony Anderson says: "Over the years we have helped hundreds of thousands of students to unlock the power of English and the growing global demand shows no sign of slowing down. For 2012 we will continue to invest in our world-class Cambridge campus and will introduce a variety of new courses to keep ahead of our competitors."
