On 26 December 2004, the lives of hundreds of thousands of people in Southern Asia were destroyed as a tsunami devastated the region, killing thousands and leaving many, many more homeless. Since that time, the Bell Educational Trust is proud to have played a small part in the rebuilding effort. Money raised by friends of Bell, colleagues and students from around the world went towards the building of two pre-schools in the Tsunami-hit areas of Sri Lanka, one in Koholankala and one in Mahawelikada-ara in the Suriya Wewa division.
With the anniversary of the disaster approaching, rather than send cards this Christmas we will be using the money we would have spent to create a once in a lifetime opportunity for a teacher from Sri Lanka to come on an all expenses paid scholarship to Bell Bedgebury Language Centre in the UK.
You can find out more about the building of the pre-schools by clicking here although if you would like any further information, or information on the latest courses and programmes from Bell, simply e-mail
On behalf of the whole Bell team around the world, we wish you a happy and successful 2008.
With very best wishes
The Bell Team
